Choosing a Garden Shed

November 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · Garden Sheds

OK, so you need a garden shed to store your garden tools, kids toys, golfing equipment or years of assorted collect-ables you have accumulated but have just not had the heart to dump.

Here are  a few tips to help you select the right shed.

1. Decide how big you need the shed to be, please note normally the largest shed you can build in your back yard without council approval is a 3m x 3m shed (10′ x 10′).

2. Decide where in your yard you are going to place the shed, where it is situated will determine the roof line you need and whether it really needs to be in Colour or Zinc.

3. Choose the roof style. If the shed is in full view then the best looking shed you can find will be desirable the ABSCO Regent Shed, ABSCO Daylite Shed are without doubt the best looking sheds on the Australian Market with great lines and colours with gable s in the door end of the shed. If the shed is more obscure or a long way from the house then the ABSCO Premier Shed with doors in the side wall may suit you better as normally these are a little less expensive. If you are planning to put the shed at the side of the house below the eaves then a n ABSCO SPACESAVER Shed would be ideal as the Skillion roof design slopes away from the house wall ensuring water is kept away from your house foundations.

4. Choose your shed quality. People say that a shed is a shed is a shed, but nothing could be further from the truth. You need to ask yourself a few questions e.g. Is the shed going to be easy to assemble? Will the shed rust in a year or 2? Is the shed made in Australia? (very important imported sheds are often made from inferior quality steel, much thinner than most Australian made sheds (not all) and with much less life expectancy).

Our research has indicated the easiest shed to assemble is the ABSCO shed it has per drilled holes, far less screws and a unique and patented assembly system called SNAPTiTE®

Here is what to look for:

  • Manufacturers warranty (ABSCO Sheds offer 20 years warranty aganst rust)
  • Australian made steel (Bluescope Steel, Colourbond and Zincalume)
  • Australian made
  • Ease of assembly
  • Safety edges
  • Pre-punched or drilled holes

We have looked at them all and frankly the best value shed on the Australian Market is the ABSCO Shed.
